SOLOMON ISLAND MONKEY TAIL SKINK

Corucia zebrata

Solomon Island Monkey Skinks are strongly built, slow moving arboreal lizards native to the tropical forests of the Solomon Islands.  These lizards spend most of their life in trees, using their prehensile tail to hold on to branches as they move about.  They are very territorial and need to be provided with ample area with plenty of climbing and hiding places if kept in groups.  Solomon Island Skinks have very powerful jaws.  Although they quickly become tame, it is important to move slowly and handle them carefully to avoid a painful bite.
