FRINGE FINGER LIZARD

Acanthodactylus erythrusrus

 

These lizards are native to Northwestern Africa, the Iberian Peninsula, and Southern France.  They are found in sandy, rocky, arid regions with sparse vegetation where they live on the ground and like to burrow.

 

Maximum size: 8”

 

Lighting:  Full spectrum fluorescent UV bulbs and a basking light are required.

 

Temperature range: Day 77° –86° Night 59°-68°

 

Food:  Crickets coated in calcium and vitamin powder.

 

Water: A bowl of clean water should always be available.

 

Housing/Habitat: An aquarium equipped with an under tank heating pad on one end and sand substrate that is deep enough to facilitate burrowing. The sand should be deeper at one end and the lowest layer of the sand substrate should be kept moist.  Landscape to provide plenty of hiding places.
