Spring marks the beginning of flea season in the Midwest. The conditions at this time of the year are ideal for flea
survival and reproduction. In just thirty days, ten fleas can multiply to more than 250,000 fleas. An adult female
flea lays up to 600 eggs in her lifetime. For every single adult flea, there can be hundreds of fleas at other stages
of the flea cycle. Controlling these pests is not an easy task. The pet, the home, and the yard must all be treated
together to successfully control fleas.
Before starting the flea control program, carefully read and follow the directions on the package.
Step 1...The Pet
Bathe and dip the pet with a good quality flea shampoo and dip. Leave the dip on the pet to air dry. To prevent
reinfestation, put a flea and tick collar on your pet plus spray the pet a couple times each week with a good
flea and tick spray.
Step 2...The Home
If your pet spends time indoors, you must rid your home of fleas. Fogging is the fastest & most effective way
to rid the home of fleas. Use a fogger the same day that you bathe and dip your pet to effectively rid the home
of fleas. Before using a fogger, use a house and carpet spray to kill fleas in the hidden areas of your home. To
prevent reinfestation use house and carpet spray. Start this routine 3 days after fogging and repeat every 5 days.
Step 3...The Yard
The fleas originally came into the home from the yard. Spray the yard with yard and kennel concentrate the same
day that you bathe and dip the pet and fog the home. Repeat as necessary, approximately every 14 days to keep
fleas under control.
